Designing a Home That Actually Feels Like You

Hey Roomies!

One of the questions I get asked the most is:

“Roma, what’s your creative process like when working with new clients?”

And honestly?
It’s probably very different than what people expect.

Because my process is not about walking into your home and immediately picking furniture or throwing paint swatches around like confetti (although… eventually we do get to the fun part).

My first job as an interior designer is actually much deeper than that.

It’s learning who you are.
How you want your home to feel.
And what your personal style truly is—not just what’s trending online.

At Rooms By Roma Interior Design, I believe beautiful homes begin with understanding the people who live inside them.

Not What You “Like”… But What’s Actually Your Style

This is where things get interesting.

Most people come into the design process with inspiration photos, Pinterest boards, or a list of words like:

  • “light and airy”

  • “dark and moody”

  • “comfortable and cozy”

And while those words are helpful… they can also mean completely different things to different people.

Because what you consider cozy might feel cluttered to someone else.
What feels calming to one person might feel cold to another.

That’s why my process always starts with questions.

I ask things like:

  • “What does cozy actually look like to you?”

  • “When you think of light and airy, what colors or memories come to mind?”

  • “How do you want to feel when you walk into this room?”

Because the feeling is the foundation.

Designing Around Emotion, Lifestyle & Energy

At Rooms By Roma, I don’t just design for aesthetics.

I design for:

  • how you live

  • how you gather

  • how you rest

  • how your family functions

  • and how your home supports your everyday life

Because great interior design isn’t just about creating a pretty room.

It’s about creating:
peace
comfort
flow
connection
and an environment that feels aligned with who you are

That’s what transforms a house into a home.

Turning Feelings Into Fabrics, Materials & Color

Here’s where the real design challenge begins.

Once we identify the feeling and energy you want your home to have… my job is translating that into:

  • fabrics

  • finishes

  • textures

  • layouts

  • colors

  • lighting

  • and materials

And that’s the difference professional interior design makes.

Anyone can buy furniture.

But creating a home that feels cohesive, elevated, personal, and emotionally connected?
That takes intention.

At Rooms By Roma, every design decision is chosen with purpose—because your home should feel layered, lived in, and authentically yours.

Why Personalized Interior Design Matters

The truth is, no two clients are the same.

That means no two homes should feel the same either.

I never want a home to feel:

  • copied

  • overly trendy

  • or like it belongs to someone else

Your home should tell your story.

That’s why I take the time to really understand my clients before we start making major design decisions.

Because once we understand your style at a deeper level, everything else starts falling into place naturally.

The Rooms By Roma Experience

Working with Rooms By Roma is not just about decorating a room.

It’s about:

  • discovering your style

  • creating intentional spaces

  • elevating your home

  • and designing an environment that truly supports your life

Whether you’re redesigning one room or transforming your entire home, my goal is always the same:

Create a space that feels like the best version of you.

Final Thoughts, Roomies

If you’ve ever struggled to define your style, know this:

You don’t need to have all the answers before hiring a designer.

That’s part of the process.

At Rooms By Roma Interior Design, I help clients move beyond trends and inspiration photos to create spaces that feel personal, elevated, timeless, and deeply connected to the way they want to live.

Because your home should never feel random.
It should feel intentional.
