What It’s Really Like to Work With Me as an Interior Designer

Hey Roomies!

One of the questions I get asked all the time is:

Roma, what’s it actually like to work with you as an interior designer?”

And honestly? I love this question—because interior design is so much more than picking furniture and making things look pretty. It’s a relationship. A collaboration. A process built on trust, communication, creativity, and understanding how you truly want your home to feel.

So today, I’m giving you a little behind-the-scenes look into the Rooms By Roma interior design experience—from the very first consultation to how I approach creating spaces that feel elevated, intentional, and deeply personal.

The First Consultation: Finding the Right Fit

One of the most important parts of the process is the very beginning: the consultation.

And no… this isn’t just me showing up with paint swatches and asking what color couch you like

This is where we figure out:

  • your lifestyle

  • your design goals

  • how you live in your home

  • and whether we’re the right fit for each other

Because the truth is, the right client/designer relationship matters.

Interior design is personal. Your home holds your routines, your family, your memories, and your energy. So it’s important that you feel comfortable, heard, and understood throughout the process.

According to the experts at Architectural Digest, one of the biggest benefits of hiring a professional interior designer is having someone who can help translate your vision into a cohesive, functional design plan.

And that’s exactly what I aim to do.

How an Interior Designer Saves You Time, Money & Stress

A lot of people think hiring an interior designer is an extra expense—but in reality, it often saves you from expensive mistakes later.

As a professional interior designer, part of my job is helping clients with:

  • sourcing furniture and materials

  • contractor coordination

  • space planning

  • budgeting decisions

  • and preventing costly design errors before they happen

Because trust me… buying the wrong sectional, choosing the wrong scale rug, or remodeling without a clear plan gets expensive fast.

Resources like Houzz Interior Design Resources consistently highlight how experienced interior designers help streamline projects and reduce overwhelm by managing details clients may not even realize matter yet.

And honestly? That peace of mind matters.

Where I Usually Recommend Starting

When beginning a new design project, I don’t believe you have to tackle the entire house all at once.

In fact, I usually recommend starting with the room that brings you the most peace.

For many people, that’s:

  • the primary bedroom

  • a cozy living room

  • or another space where they can truly relax and recharge

Because creating one intentional, calming space can completely shift how you experience your home day to day.

At Rooms By Roma, I help clients narrow the scope and prioritize where design will make the biggest impact first.

Your Home Should Still Feel Like You

This is probably the most important thing I want every client to understand:

I do not force my personal style onto your home.

Yes, I have my own design philosophy.
Yes, I love layered textures, intentional flow, contrast, and elevated details.

But at the end of the day? Your home should still feel like you.

My role is to:

  • understand your style

  • refine your vision

  • elevate your space

  • and blend your needs with thoughtful, functional design

Because the best interiors don’t feel copied. They feel personal.

The Rooms By Roma Experience

Working with Rooms By Roma is about more than decorating a room.

It’s about creating:
peace
comfort
beauty
functionality
and spaces that support the way you truly live

Whether you’re redesigning one room or transforming your entire home, my goal is always the same:

To create a home that feels intentional, elevated, and authentically yours.

Final Thoughts, Roomies

If you’ve ever wondered whether hiring an interior designer is worth it, I hope this gives you a little clarity into the process—and the heart behind what I do.

Interior design isn’t just about aesthetics.
It’s about creating environments that improve your daily life.

And that’s something I never take lightly.
