Window Treatments, But Make It Roma | The First Layer of a Beautiful Home

Hey Roomies!

Okay… let’s talk about one of the most underrated (but very powerful) design moments in a home:

Window treatments.

Yes, I said it. Curtains, shades, all the things we sometimes treat like an afterthought?
They are actually the finishing touch that makes everything feel intentional.

And in today’s video, I’m bringing you along for Part 1 of our window treatment installation in the new house—and let me tell you… I’ve been waiting for this one!

Function First… Because Vegas Sun Is No Joke

We’re starting with automated roller shades, and if you’ve been with me for a while, you already know—I loved these in the last house.

So yes… they’re back.

Why?

Because they’re not just cute—they’re smart.

They help with:

  • light control (hello, peaceful mornings)

  • privacy (because we like our business… private)

  • protecting furniture, flooring, and artwork from sun damage

Especially here in Las Vegas, where the sun shows up strong and uninvited, these shades are doing the most—in the best way.

The Elevated Detail You Didn’t Know You Needed

Now let’s talk about the little detail that makes a big difference:

the trim package.

This is what gives the shades that clean, framed look. Instead of feeling like something you added later, it feels like it was always meant to be there.

It’s subtle. It’s polished. It’s elevated.

And roomies… that’s the difference between “nice” and intentional design.

Fabric, Personality & Saying Goodbye to Safe Choices

Here’s where things get fun.

Because I didn’t want every room to feel the same. I didn’t want safe. I didn’t want predictable.

I wanted personality.

So each space has its own moment:

  • my office feels bold and creative

  • guest rooms feel welcoming but unique

  • the primary bedroom is layered and calm with a touch of drama

We’re playing with:

  • textures

  • tones

  • patterns

  • and yes… stepping outside the comfort zone just a little

Because your home should feel like you—not like a catalog page.

More Ideas Already in Motion

And of course… my brain doesn’t stop at just one layer.

We’re already thinking about:

  • bathroom fabrics

  • wallpaper possibilities (because you know I have thoughts 👀)

  • reupholstering pieces to tie everything together

Because design isn’t one decision—it’s a series of thoughtful layers that build on each other over time.

Meet the Magic Behind the Scenes

You’ll also meet Breanna from Transitions Shades Window Fashions, who has been such a key part of bringing this vision to life.

She walks us through:

  • why certain selections work better for real life

  • how functionality plays into design choices

  • what’s coming next with custom drapery

Because yes… this is just Phase 1.

Phase 2? Drapery panels that will soften everything and give that full, custom, “this home is complete” feeling.

More Than Just a Window Covering

Here’s what I want you to take from this, roomies:

Window treatments aren’t just about covering a window.

They’re about:

  • adding softness

  • creating privacy

  • bringing in texture

  • shaping light

  • and making a space feel finished

They’re one of those details that quietly change everything.

Final Thoughts

This part of the process feels really special—because it’s when the house starts to shift from “we just moved in” to this is becoming our home.

Layer by layer.
Decision by decision.
Moment by moment.

If you want to see the full installation and hear more about the design process, you can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/80jMLy1Ue4E

Thank you for being here, roomies
For trusting the process, embracing the layers, and creating something meaningful in your own spaces.

And as always…
I look forward to creating with you!
