Hey Roomies!
There are people who come into your life for a season...
And then there are the people who quietly become part of your foundation.
The ones who know your stories before you tell them.
The ones who have seen you at your highest highs and lovingly carried you through your lowest lows.
The ones who remind you who you are when life feels a little uncertain.
Today's video is about one of those people.
My cousin, Morris.
We've shared more than twenty years of friendship, family, laughter, ridiculous adventures, heart-to-heart conversations, and memories that still make me smile every time I think about them.
As I sat with Morris during my trip back to Colorado, I realized something that has become more meaningful to me with every passing year.
The most beautiful things we build in life aren't houses.
They're relationships.

Home Is Built Long Before the Furniture Arrives
As an interior designer, people often ask me what makes a house feel like home.
Is it the furniture?
The finishes?
The lighting?
The artwork?
Those things certainly help.
But after years of designing homes—and even more years of living life—I've learned that home begins long before any sofa is delivered.
Home begins with the people who make you feel safe enough to simply be yourself.
That's exactly what Morris has always been for me.
Someone who listens without judgment.
Someone who celebrates my victories.
Someone who reminds me to laugh a little louder and worry a little less.
Those kinds of people are rare.
And when you find them...
You hold onto them.
Some Friendships Are Family... and Some Family Become Your Best Friends
One of the beautiful things about growing older is watching relationships evolve.
As children, Morris and I were simply cousins.
As adults...
We became friends.
Real friends.
The kind of friendship that's built on trust, encouragement, honesty, and showing up for one another through every season of life.
Distance never changed that.
Time never weakened it.
If anything, the years have only made our friendship stronger.
Life has taught me that the greatest luxury isn't owning beautiful things.
It's having beautiful people.
The Famous Jazz in the Park Picnics
Now roomies...
If you know me, you know I don't exactly believe in doing anything halfway.
So naturally...
When Morris and I planned picnics for Jazz in the Park...
We didn't bring a blanket and a sandwich.
Oh no.
We brought crystal.
Chandeliers.
Elegant tablescapes.
Beautiful linens.
Themed décor.
Fresh flowers.
Tents.
Candles.
And enough style that people walking by probably thought someone was getting married.
Looking back now, those picnics make me laugh.
Not because they were over-the-top...
(Okay... maybe just a little.)
But because they perfectly captured something I still believe today.
Everyday moments deserve beauty.
You don't have to wait for a special occasion to create something memorable.
Sometimes Tuesday deserves crystal glasses too.
Interior Design Is Really About Creating Moments
Those picnics taught me something I still carry into every home I design.
Beautiful spaces invite people to slow down.
To gather.
To stay a little longer.
To make memories.
That's what intentional interior design is really about.
It's not simply arranging furniture.
It's creating environments where life happens.
Birthday dinners.
Holiday traditions.
Morning coffee.
Late-night conversations.
Family game nights.
Quiet moments after difficult days.
Every room has the potential to become part of someone's story.
As a designer, that's the part that inspires me the most.
Colorado Gave Me Exactly What My Heart Needed
This season has been full of change.
Selling a home.
Moving.
Helping Alexa prepare for a new school.
Unpacking boxes.
Creating new routines.
Starting fresh.
Even when change is exciting...
It's still exhausting.
Coming back to Colorado reminded me how important it is to pause.
To reconnect.
To allow yourself to be cared for by the people who've known you the longest.
Sometimes the greatest form of self-care isn't a vacation.
It's sitting across the table from someone who already knows your heart.
The Artist Behind the Rooms
Many people know me as an interior designer.
Some know me through YouTube.
Others know me because of Rooms By Roma.
But before any of those titles...
I'm simply someone who loves people.
Everything I create is inspired by relationships.
By family.
By friendship.
By memories.
By love.
Every room I design carries a little bit of those experiences with it.
Because homes should never feel like showrooms.
They should feel lived in.
Welcoming.
Comfortable.
Personal.
They should tell your story.
Not mine.
A Beautiful Home Begins With Beautiful Relationships
As I've gotten older, my definition of luxury has changed.
Luxury isn't owning more.
Luxury is having people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts.
Luxury is calling someone after months apart and picking up right where you left off.
Luxury is being fully accepted exactly as you are.
Luxury is sitting around a beautifully set table with the people you love most.
Those are the moments that fill a house with life.
And no piece of furniture can ever replace them.
