Finding Grace in the Overwhelm: Navigating Change, Home, and Healing
Hey Rooomies!
Today’s blog—and today’s video—comes from a softer place. A real place. One that I think so many of us quietly sit in during big life transitions:
feeling overwhelmed.
Not the dramatic kind.
Not the kind you can easily explain.
But the steady, layered kind that comes when life keeps moving… even when your heart is still catching up.

When Change Feels Heavy (Even When It’s Right)
This season of moving has been full of change for me and Alexa. New spaces. New routines. New responsibilities. And while there’s so much to be grateful for… there’s also a quiet weight that comes with it.
Because building a new home isn’t just physical—it’s emotional.
You’re trying to:
unpack boxes
make decisions
stay present for your family
and somehow create a sense of peace in the middle of chaos
And sometimes… it’s just a lot.
Even when you know you’re doing the right thing.
Letting Go of Perfection (Because It Was Never the Goal)
One of the biggest lessons I’ve been learning during this transition is flexibility.
It’s so easy to get attached to a vision:
how the room should look
where everything should go
how quickly it should all come together
But when you hold too tightly to that vision, you create pressure. And pressure leads to rushed decisions—and rushed decisions rarely feel like home.
So I’ve been giving myself permission to slow down.
To sit in the space.
To live in it first.
To let each room tell me what it needs before I try to “finish” it.
Because a home built with intention will always feel better than one built in a rush.
The Power of Support (Even When You Still Feel It All)
Something else I’ve been reminded of during this season is how important it is to have your people.
Whether it’s:
family
friends
organizers
helpers
or even someone who simply checks in
Support matters.
And yet… even with all the help in the world, there are still moments where it feels like everything is resting on your shoulders.
That’s real.
That’s human.
And you’re allowed to feel both supported and overwhelmed at the same time.
Taking Care of Yourself in the Middle of the Mess
Here’s the part I don’t want you to skip over, roomies:
You still matter in the middle of all of this.
It’s so easy to pour everything into the move, the house, the family, the responsibilities… and forget to take care of yourself.
But the smallest moments can make the biggest difference:
sitting in your favorite spot
making yourself a meal
stepping outside for fresh air
taking a break without guilt
or even going on a quick trip just to reset
These aren’t luxuries.
They’re necessary.
Because you can’t pour peace into your home if you’re running on empty.
A Transition Filled with Grace
This season isn’t perfect.
It’s messy.
It’s emotional.
It’s slower than I expected in some ways and faster in others.
But it’s also full of growth.
This video—and this moment—is really about giving yourself grace.
Grace to:
feel overwhelmed
take your time
change your mind
rest when you need to
and move through transition without needing to have it all figured out
Because the truth is… none of us do.
Hope in the Middle of It All
Even in the overwhelm, there is something beautiful happening.
A new home is being built—not just with furniture and design, but with intention, patience, and care.
New routines are forming.
New memories are beginning.
And slowly, piece by piece… it’s starting to feel like home.
If you’re walking through your own season of change, I hope this reminds you:
You’re allowed to take it one step at a time.
You’re allowed to feel it all.
And you’re allowed to find moments of peace—even in the middle of the chaos.
Thank you for being here, roomies
For holding space for the real moments, not just the pretty ones.
