Hi roomies—it’s Roma! Today, we’re giving that lonely entryway console a glow-up using… wait for it… things I already had lying around. Yep, no new credit card swipe required. I’m showing you how to “shop your home” and create a styled vignette around one key piece—in my case, a gorgeous statement lamp that deserved center stage.
Here’s my process (aka the recipe for console magic):
Step 1: Start with an anchor.
That lamp? She’s the diva. Everything else plays backup, so give her space to shine.
Step 2: Play with height.
Flat surfaces are snoozefests. Stack coffee table books, add a riser, or layer in candlesticks. Boom—instant visual drama without the soap opera.
Step 3: Mix textures + finishes.
Marble, glass, brass—yes please. Different surfaces bounce light and keep things interesting. Think less “matchy-matchy,” more “curated traveler who accidentally became an interior designer.”
Step 4: Balance both sides.
If one side feels heavy, add something lighter on the opposite end. Picture a seesaw for your eyes—no one wants to tumble off.
Step 5: Create a triangle of tones.
My trick? Spread colors and finishes in a loose triangle. It leads the eye around without screaming “geometry class.”
