A Room Full of Personality: Touring Alexa’s Purple Paradise
Hi roomies, it’s Roma.
Today we’re heading upstairs for something a little different—a full tour of Alexa’s bedroom makeover, and yes… she insisted on starring in this one. According to her: “The videos do better when I’m in them.” Honestly? She’s not wrong. So if you love a room filled with color, charm, and a whole lot of personality, this is your moment.

A Kids’ Room Designed to Grow—Not Expire
When I started this space, my goal wasn’t just to create a cute kids’ room. Kids grow faster than we can assemble IKEA furniture, so I wanted a design that would age gracefully with her, without needing a full makeover every year.
Here’s the mindset I used (feel free to steal it):
1. Invest in Furniture They Won’t Outgrow
We went with pieces that can move with her someday—literally. From the dresser to the nightstands, I chose clean, transitional styles that don’t scream “little kid.” That way, when she becomes a teen, these pieces can still hold their own.
2. The Canopy Bed: Glam, Practical, and Totally Alexa
Alexa fell in love with this bed, and honestly, so did I. It brings that touch of glam without being over the top.
A canopy bed also creates a sense of dimension and softness, especially in a room where the ceiling—and yes, the walls—are painted her signature purple.
You’ll see it clearly in the YouTube tour (again, linking it because we love a good backlink)

The Decor: Funko Pops, Ducks, Dinosaurs & All Things Alexa
If you’ve ever decorated a kids’ room, you know the real challenge isn’t design—it’s giving them space to express who they are.
Alexa’s personality is stamped into every corner:
A curated display of Funko Pops
A collection of rubber ducks
Loving little clusters of dinosaurs
Books, trinkets, and all the things she insists “make the videos do better”
This space isn’t about matching sets or perfection. It’s about her. And honestly, that’s what makes any kids’ room feel alive.
The Art With a Heart: Stories on the Wall
One thing I always say: your art doesn't have to match your sofa—your art should match your soul.
In Alexa’s room, two pieces hold deep meaning for our family:
“Lost and Found”
This artwork is tied to our adoption journey—a story I share in the video. It’s a reminder of the winding roads that lead us to each other and the beauty of being found exactly where you’re meant to be.
The Scrabble Gift
A dear friend who knew us from the beginning created a custom Scrabble piece spelling out the three of our names.
Simple. Thoughtful. Personal.
This is the kind of art money can’t replace.
These sentimental touches turn a room into a story… and a home into a heart space.
Custom Closet & Bathroom: Designing for Real Life
Let’s be honest: closets in kids’ rooms are almost always too small, too narrow, or too “what were the builders thinking?” So we redesigned hers with:
Better storage flow
Adjustable shelving
Easy-access zones for the things she reaches for most
Same idea for the bathroom—small tweaks, smart layout, kid-friendly but future-proofed.

Take What You Love, Leave What You Don’t
My hope with every tour is that you don’t feel pressure to recreate the exact look.
Instead, steal ideas that work for:
Your child
Your budget
Your style
Your version of home
Maybe it’s:
letting your kids choose a bold wall color,
adding meaningful artwork,
or finally tackling that “too small” closet with a smarter layout.
Remember: everything you see here is just stuff.
The real treasure?
The people you share your home with.
